Mirror Lies

I see wrinkles around my eyes,
My husband sees laughter lines
Created from the laughs we’ve shared
over the years so far.

I see sad saggy breasts,
Well used from nursing.
My daughter sees a place
to rest her head and snuggle in to.

I see an angry slash
where my c-section scar is,
My son says it’s the ‘x marks the spot’
from where he was born.

I see silver stretch marks
snaking across my stomach,
My children see the roadmap
marking where mummy carried them.

Sometimes a mirror can lie.
